Green Energy (EV) corresponds to the purchase of grey energy to which Guarantees of Origin certificates (GO) are added. These certificates are sold separately from the electricity itself.
In this purchasing mechanism, the energy actually consumed is not necessarily produced from renewable sources. However, the Guarantees of Origin received attest that a volume equivalent to what was consumed has been produced from renewable sources and injected into the European electricity grid.
This purchasing choice is primarily a communication tool but does not actively contribute to the ecological transition.
Guarantees of Origin
These certificates are issued by Powernext for each MWh produced from the following renewable sources:
-Wind power
-Solar power
-Hydropower (regardless of production mode)
-Biomass and biogas
-Aerothermal, geothermal, hydrothermal
-Cogeneration (regardless of the fuel used)
-Landfill gas and wastewater treatment plant gas
These certificates can then be traded via EEX (owner of Powernext) or used on behalf of the end consumer to give the sold energy a renewable status.
